Concept:
The Philips "Wiz" series of IoT home lighting / electrical products is a relatively simple, accessible, and budget-friendly way to add increased control and automation to a room. Product users can turn fans and lights on or off as well as change brightness and color settings via a smartphone. The optional hand-held remote control makes it easy to activate a selection of saved lightbulb and outlet settings without the the smartphone. However, as of the time of this design project, there is no wall-mounted control device for this product line. Since the traditional and code-requisite light switches are still the intuitive location for finding light controls, I designed this switch cover plate to provide a secure home for the handheld remote without hindering "grab and go" use.
Description:
Modified wall light switch plate to hold wifi-enabled remote control for lights and appliances. Remote is affixed via a strong magnet. The plate may be rotated 180 degrees to suit different wall constraints or user ergonomic preference.
